My name is Hohepa Te Moana, better known as Hepa. I'm here to awhi (help) and manaaki (support) Aotearoa New Zealand through the next stage of its growth as a Nation. For this reason and many more, I am putting myself forward and asking the community to put me in the New Plymouth District Council for 2022 and beyond.

What am I passionate about?

H.E.P.A

Health

- Working towards improving the mental health stigma within New Plymouth (and society at large) is always a focus.

- Investigate the potential of a built-in outdoor workout area along the New Plymouth foreshore.

- Aid the central suburbs to be less reliant on personal transport.

Economy

- Encourage businesses and startups to create online solutions to global needs and maximise their online opportunities.

- Create centralized, user-friendly websites for businesses to give them better access to information, as well as resources on transitioning to an online/delivery-based economy similar to what we've seen in Akron, Ohio, USA.

- Create more opportunity for local business to leverage eachother towards success.

People

- Demonstrate the value of holistic approaches to wellbeing and mental health.

- Support the transition of Aotearoa to a more Treaty centric nation.

- Ensure New Plymouth makes the most of central governments Mental Wellbeing Innovation Fund once the pilot is complete.

Aspirations

- Listen to the aspirations of the community.

- Connect those in the community who have aligned values and missions.

- Make New Plymouth District the most collaborative district in Aotearoa along the way to achieving our goal of being the Sustainable Lifestyle Capital of the World.
